Preparation
Wash and dry the apples thoroughly, remove the stalks and insert the wooden sticks.
Chop the chocolate, place it in a high and narrow bowl and let it melt in the microwave oven or in a bain-marie.
Plunge the apples into the melted chocolate until they are almost fully covered.
Decorate them as you prefer with sugar comfits or grated coconut.
Place them on baking paper and let them cool and harden.
When the chocolate becomes solid, tie small ribbons of red satin round the sticks.
Distribute the apple place-cards on small plates and use them to decorate the table.
Gift idea: wrap the apples in sheets of transparent paper, tie them with a ribbon and present them to your guests and friends as a gift.
The chef’s touch: you can also decorate the chocolate apples with grains of dried fruit (hazelnuts, walnuts, pistachios) or coloured/silver comfits; for a more sophisticated result, instead of plain wooden sticks, use cake-pop or lollypop sticks.
