Modiapple.com renews its “Zero Impact Web” for a Sustainable Internet

Previous Next
Modì has renewed its commitment, even this year, to have an environmentally sustainable Internet Network through Zero Impact Web. This is the name of LifeGate project, whose aim has been since its very beginning to reduce and, of course, to compensate for the carbon dioxide emissions produced by web surfing.

Actually, very few people deal with this type of issue. Yet, although the Web has made our lifestyles more environmentally sustainable day by day, shortening the distances and reducing the time, it still consumes energy, thus producing CO2.

This is the very reason why we at Modì have decided to embrace this initiative that enables us to do our part in the creation and protection of 166 m2 of growing forest in Costa Rica, and compensate for 864 kg of CO2 in five years, which have been produced annually by our traffic.
Furthermore, Modì is the eco-friendly apple par excellence: its tree is extremely resistant to the major pathogens and the integrated agricultural production on the field. These two aspects minimize human intervention, resulting in positive effects on the environment.
Most importantly, Modì is the first apple with Carbon Footprint measuring (CFP): its carbon dioxide emissions namely account for 0.028 kg of CO2 per kilo of fruit produced in the orchard, that is up to a 49% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere, compared to other reference varieties “treated” under the same conditions as Modì.

Going back to Zero Impact Web, it is admittedly just a little action. Yet, if it is carried out by many other people, it can really make the difference. So, if you are a blogger or the owner of a website, please join us and, maybe most importantly, help raise awareness among the general public.
